Teresa Bitler is a Phoenix-based writer who loves to weave history into her travel stories. Over the last decade and a half, she’s flown in a World War II fighter plane, shared cupcakes and Kool-Aid with a Hopi medicine man, fired a Gatling gun and rode through the Jordanian desert on a camel with no name. She’s recounted these stories and many others in magazines like Saturday Evening Post, Wine Enthusiast and National Geographic. Teresa is also the author of Fodor’s InFocus Grand Canyon National Park and Backroads & Byways of Indian Country, as well as co-author of Fodor’s Arizona & the Grand Canyon. When not traveling, she appreciates downtime at home with her husband and German shorthair pointer Beau, but she’ll drop everything and pack her bags for her ultimate trip: an African safari.
